The Arabic dubbing of two other classic Pakistani serials-Tanhaiyaan and Aahat begins following the completion of another class Dhoop Kinare, part of the cultural exchange pact between Saudi Arabia and Pakistan.
Dr. Lubna Farah, translation expert and head of the project, informed that the team would soon begin the Arabic dubbing of the next serials. In an interview with the Arab news outlet, Lubna Farah shared her experience of dubbing Pakistani serials into the Arabic language.
“After good reviews of ‘Dhoop Kinare,’ I am looking forward to translating and dub two more PTV classic dramas ‘Tanhaiyan’ and ‘Aahat,’” said Lubna in the interview.
“There were 35 characters in the drama including three children and finding these many dubbing artists consumed a lot of time,” she said. “As Pakistan has a very limited community of Arabic speaking people, I auditioned my students, friends, and even relatives who can speak Arabic.”

She said ended up dubbing the character of Fazeelat Bibi from the serial Dhoop Kinare after failing to find a suitable voice over artist.
Lubna Farah said she has the experience of more than 25 years in the field of dubbing and translation. She said the Arab delegation that visited Pakistan along with Saudi Crown Prince Muhammad bin Salman appreciated her work.
Lubna Farah has facilitated several high-profile diplomatic meetings between Arab and Pakistani leaders. She translated from Arabic to English and Urdu.
“It was a great honor for me to work as a translator for MBS and his delegation,” she said. “They appreciated my translation so much and one of the ministers from the Saudi delegation asked me whether I am Pakistani and not Arab as I spoke Saudi dialect during translation.”
Pakistani serials: PTV resumes Arabic dubbing
Pakistan Television (PTV) resumed the Arabic dubbing of two classic Pakistani serials Tanhaiyaan and Aahat for the broadcast in KSA (Saudi Arabia) last month in June as part of the cultural exchange program between Islamabad and Riyadh which began last year.
Meanwhile, Pakistani serial Dhoop Kinare with Arabic dubbing is ready for the broadcast in KSA. Budgetary constraints had halted the work on the projects. However, the authorities informed that the team has resumed the work on the Arabic dubbing of the series. The ministry had selected three classic PTV drama serials: Dhoop Kinare, Tanhaiyaan, and Aahat for the broadcast in Saudi Arabia. The PTV completed the dubbing of the serial Dhoop Kinare earlier. However, the budget deficit stopped the work on the latter two serials.
Former Information Minister, Fawad Chaudhry had floated the idea to broadcast Pakistani serials in Saudi Arabia.

“Work has resumed on the project and [the finished product] will soon be given probably to Saudi Arabia and the UAE [to air on] their television channels,” Information Minister Shibli Faraz told the Arab media outlet.
Pakistan to broadcast serials in KSA
The project of cultural exchange was the result of the visit of the Saudi Crown Prince Muhammad bin Salman to Pakistan and his vision to modernize Saudi Arabia.
Hence, Information Ministry tasked PTV to dub the serial in the Arabic language. “The information ministry will send it to Saudi Arabia through our foreign office,” said Sikander earlier.
She had informed that the cultural ministry of Pakistan contacted different media houses in KSA. They offered them to buy the Arabic dubbed tv serials of Pakistan for broadcast in KSA.
The authorities said the broadcast of Pakistani serials in Saudi Arabia would be a source of revenue for Pakistan. It would also bring to international recognition of Pakistan’s entertainment production.
Cultural exchange between Pakistan and KSA
Earlier, during his interview, former minister Fawad Chaudhry had said that Pakistan has a great opportunity to showcase its classic serials at the international level. It can begin from Saudi Arabia that is opening up under the leadership of Crown Prince Muhammad bin Salman.
“In the field of art and culture, he has changed the Kingdom in a big way,” said Chaudhry.

He said the work began after the visit of the former Saudi information minister Awwad bin Saleh to Pakistan in 2018.
Both sides agreed to create the Pakistan and Saudi Arabia (KSA) ministerial committee on culture and information during the visit of MBS in February. With the idea to facilitate the cultural exchange between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.
