Pakistan’s audio leak fiasco

Lately, Pakistan has been rocked by a slew of leaked audio clips from the Prime Minister’s Office featuring officials from the previous and incumbent governments. The latest audio leak is Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s second audio.

In the first audio, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif could be heard talking to a government official that Maryam Nawaz Sharif had asked him to facilitate her son-in-law Raheel with the import of machinery for a power plant, from India. Due to the subject matter of the audio, PTI leaders accused the Prime Minister of putting his family’s business interests before those of the state.

Also, the second leaked audio of PM Shehbaz comes weeks after soundbites of PTI chairman Imran Khan and his party leaders among others were leaked online allegedly by a ‘hacker’.
