Shahid Afridi takes a jibe at Indian Cricketer Muhammad Shami calling defeat of Pakistan a ‘karma’ in the final of the T20 World Cup against England.
Muhammad Shami posted a bizarre message in response to the broken-heart emoji posted by former pacer Shoaib Akhtar on Twitter after Pakistan lost the match. “Sorry brother It’s call karma,” wrote Muhammad Shami in his tweet with a broken-heart emoji.
His tweet garnered immense reaction from Pakistan. Pakistani fans reminded him that India lost to England in the semi-final with their poor performance. It had got nothing to do with Pakistan.
They reminded him how they supported him when he faced an ugly campaign last year after Pakistan defeated India in the T20 World Cup 2021. Muhammad Shami was vilified by Indian cricket fans following his last over in the match. He was being allegedly targeted by Hindu extremists for being a Muslim-Indian cricketer.

Pakistani wicket-keeper batter Muhammad Rizwan had extended support to Muhammad Shami. “The kind of pressure, struggles & sacrifices a player has to go through for his country & his people is immeasurable.
@MdShami11is a star & indeed of the best bowlers in the world Please respect your stars. This game should bring people together & not divide ’em #Shami #PAKvIND,” said Rizwan in his tweet.
Former cricketer Shahid Afridi responded to the tweet of Muhammad Shami. While talking on the sports show on SAMMA TV, Shahid Afridi said cricketers should breed happiness instead of hate. Cricketers should be role models for their fans and followers.
“We shouldn’t do things that cultivate hate. If we start doing such things, what can we expect from the common people,” said Afridi.
Being ambassador of the game, cricketers have the responsibility to bring people closer. “We are cricketers, we are ambassadors and role models. We should try to end all of this. We are neighbors,” Afridi added.
“Our relationships improve with sports. We want to play with them, see them play in Pakistan,” said Afridi.
