Afghan player is lying, did not disrespect Afghanistan: Muhammad Amir

Pakistani cricketer, Muhammad Amir, has denied the accusations of Afghan player Naveen-ul-Haq who had blamed him of disrespecting Afghanistan

Pakistani cricketer, Muhammad Amir, has denied the accusations of Afghan player Naveen-ul-Haq who blamed the former for disrespecting Afghan people and Afghanistan during the Lankan Premier League match.

Afghan cricketer, Naveen-ul-Haq had claimed that Amir had passed distasteful remarks against him and Afghanistan which goaded him to react. He had tweeted in response to the tweet of Pakistani player Shahid Afridi who revealed that what he said to Haq during a handshake after the match. A video of Afridi exchanging unpleasant remarks with Haq went viral on social media earlier this week.

The video attracted the attention on social media, investigation revealed that Afridi has scolded an Afghan player for misbehaving with Amir who was also part of the cricket league and is playing from Gladiators under the leadership of Afridi.

Afridi in a tweet revealed that he had asked the player not to resort to abuse with senior players. The former Pakistani player added that he has friends in the Afghan cricket team, and Pakistan also enjoys cordial relations with the team.

“My advice to the young player was simple, play the game and don’t indulge in abusive talk. I have friends in the Afghanistan team, and we have very cordial relations. Respect for teammates and opponents is the basic spirit of the game,” said Afridi in a tweet.

Afghan player responds to Shahid Afridi

Commenting on Afridi’s tweet, Haq has accused Amir of disrespecting him and his country. “Always ready to take advice and give respect, Cricket is a gentleman’s game but if someone says you all are under our feet and will stay their then he is not only talking about me but also talking abt my ppl. #give #respect #take #respect,” wrote Haq in response to Afridi.

Now Amir has also opened up about his spat with the Afghan cricketer. “Naveen-ul-Haq is a liar. I never made any negative remarks about him or Afghanistan. He was constantly abusing me, calling me a traitor, and saying I should have gone to jail for 5 years,” a Pakistani sports journalist has quoted Amir as saying.
