News Desk |

Ahsan Khan and Sonya Husayn will be seen in the lead pair for Hum Tv’s next drama serial ‘Aangan’. Beside them, Ahad Raza Mir, Sajal Aly, and Mawra Hocane will also feature in primary roles.

Omair Rana, Abid Ali, Zaib Rehman and Uzma Hassan are included in the secondary cast for this drama serial. Director Muhammad Ehtishamuddin will direct this drama inspired by Khadija Mansoor’s award-winning novel “Aangan”.

This intense romantic drama spanning the lives of two generations is bound to take the audiences back to the 20th century. Sonya Husayn believes that the serial will be a huge success. She added that it would be a unique experience for her to perform in an unusual drama like “Aangan.”

Husayn said, “I’ve wanted to do a period play for the longest time. My family’s originally from Lucknow, and considering Aangan is a pre-partition story, I felt at home. I absolutely loved the wardrobe, the dialogues and the whole feel of the play that Ehtisham has captured perfectly. I’ve never extensively worked with him before, but he’s truly one of our finest directors.”

Ahsan Khan has worked with Director Ehtishamuddin several times before. The duo has produced hit serials like, “Udaari”. Khan says that period dramas like “Aangan” and Dastaan” are riskier to produce because they are cost-intensive.

He said, “There’s always a certain depth and beauty in period plays. But production houses hardly make them anymore because it requires a lot of time and effort to recreate an era. They’re more expensive and it’s relatively tougher for the director and the production team. There’s also no guarantee of how well they’d do either,”

He already experienced performing a similar period drama in “Dastaan”.

But performance in “Aangan” might be a challenge for other actors including Ahad Raza Mir, Sonya Husayn, Mawra Hocane and Sajal Aly since all of them are approaching a period drama like this for the first time in their careers.Â
