Ali Raza Abidi’s murder: Twitter outraged after tragedy

Ali Raza Abidi, the former National Assembly Member of Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan was shot dead outside his residence in Defence Housing Authority, Karachi on the night of 25th December, Tuesday.

The unfortunate incident has gripped people in utmost shock and fear as people continue to moan the loss of a bright political leader. Ali Raza Abidi was cherished for being a sane gentleman who vehemently advocated peace and constructive democratic practices in the country. He was amongst those frontline political leaders who outright condemned terrorists and spearheaded efforts for sectarian harmony.

Prime Minister Imran Khan expressed his grievance over Abidi’s murder and called for an immediate inquiry into the matter.

The death of Ali Raza Abidi is currently the most discussed topic on the social mediascape of Pakistan. From politicians to a common man, people are pouring out their views and opinions on twitter varying from expressing condolence with the family to questioning the claims of security agencies of cleaning Karachi from terrorism.

His followers are demanding the security agencies to bring the killers to the justice. Political leaders and current ministers of Pakistan Tehreek-I-Insaf condemned the killing of Ali Raza Abidi.

Prime Minister Imran Khan expressed his grievance over Abidi’s murder and called for an immediate inquiry into the matter.

State Minister for Interior Shehryar Khan Afridi also expressed his sadness over the demise of “dear colleague and brother Ali Raza Abadi”.

He further said that efforts will be put in place to ensure that the killers will be brought to justice.

PPP leader Dr. Nafisa Shah remembered Abidi and questioned: “Who could be so cruel to take the life of a young and promising leader?”

Pakistan Muslim League leader and spokesperson Maryam Aurangzeb expressed condolence on behalf of her party while Ahsan Iqbal, the former minister called his death a “terrible tragedy”.

Not just political executives, but the general public also condemned the brutal murder of Mr. Abidi.
