Alleged picture of Omar Cheema in wheelchair goes viral

Former Punjab governor Omar Sarfraz Cheema is among the few PTI leaders who refused to quit PTI despite being arrested.

An alleged picture of former Punjab governor Omar Sarfraz Cheema in a wheelchair is going viral on social media as netizens raise concern over the treatment of political prisoners.

According to the details, Omar Sarfraz Cheema was brought to court in a wheelchair. The drastic change in his physical appearance has sparked concern as netizens express solidarity with the PTI leader. In his viral picture, Dr. Yasmin Rashid and Mian Mahmood-ul-Rashid were also seen.

Omar Sarfraz Cheema is also being praised on social media for standing by PTI despite his arrest. Pertinent to mention that after May 9 events, many PTI leaders quit the party in protest. Several PTI leaders were arrested and then after their release separated their paths from the PTI.

Former Punjab governor Omar Sarfraz Cheema is among the few PTI leaders who refused to quit PTI despite being arrested. Allegations have also been made that PTI leaders and workers in jails faced torture.

PTI leader and former Punjab governor Omar Sarfaraz Cheema was arrested during a raid at his house by the Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) Punjab.

According to the family of the PTI leader, ‘unknown’ men in plain clothes took Omar Cheema into custody. They did not inform on which charges they took Omar Cheema into custody, the family added.

According to anti-corruption officials, Omar Sarfraz Cheema has been accused of misusing his powers as governor and giving his sister a share by forging the family registration certificate.

The arrest came shortly after former prime minister and PTI Chairperson Imran Khan was arrested by Rangers paramilitary force at Islamabad High Court (IHC) on May 9th, in a dramatic move that triggered fresh turmoil in the country as protests erupted in multiple cities across Pakistan.
