Bangladesh stops Bollywood actress and dancer Nora Fatehi from performing at an event in Dhaka to save dollars as part of austerity measures.

She was not granted permission “in view of the global situation and with the aim of maintaining the foreign exchange reserves,” according to a notice issued by Bangladesh’s Ministry of Cultural Affairs on Monday. The actress was scheduled to perform and hand out awards at the event organized by the Women Leadership Corporation.

Ministry quoted the restriction placed by the central bank following the dwindling foreign reserves of the country. The foreign reserves of Bangladesh reduced from $46.13 billion a year earlier to $36.33 billion as of 12th October.
