Coke Studio 12: Atif Aslam’s ‘Wohe Khuda Hai’ Stole The Show

Atif Aslam continued to awestruck his listeners with another powerful performance in Coke Studio’s ‘Wohe Khuda Hai’

Atif Aslam opened Coke Studio season 12 with a stunning rendition of ‘Wohe Khuda Hai’ originally sung by maestro Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan. The debut episode of the fresh season featuring Atif Aslam was aired on Friday, 11th October 2019.

With Atif Aslam, Pakistan’s most-sought singer, lending his powerful vocals to a soulful rendition of ‘Wohe Khuda Hai’, Coke Studio has hit the rights cords, since its release yesterday the song is strongly seated at the top position in Twitter trends. The awestruck netizens continued sharing the song on social media, making a global trend.

The composer Rohail Hyatt, who has made his comeback at the center stage of Coke Studio after several noticeable years, has kept sustained the originality of song, while Aslam kept the feel and sentiments of Hamd intact. The heart-touching voice of Atif Aslam overpowered the soft background music. The listeners appreciated Rohail Hyatt for not playing much with the original tune and rhythm of the song.

The six-minute video has the singer, clad in a white sherwani, reciting the Hamd, which ends with a durud. The song has gathered 3.1million views since its release last night. The other background musicians and singers matched Atif Aslam in white and neutral color dresses, at a minimalist set as opposed to previously brightly designed and extensively embellished sets.

Aslam has surely set the bar high of Coke Studio 12, even Human Rights Minister Shireen Mazari could not resist from appreciating his mesmerizing performance. Many other celebrities including Mahira Khan, Mawra Hocane lauded Atif Aslam’s ‘Wohe Khuda Hai’.

 

 

 

In the video released earlier, Atif Aslam asserted that he has dedicated the song to his five-year-old son. Adding that, he will feel proud that his father recited this Hamd while he will be in the process of understanding of Allah( God) and searching for his destiny.

‘Wohi Khuda Hai’ is a Hamd, that glorifies the unmatchable qualities of God, having supreme control over this world and the lives of human beings. The lyrics of “Wohi Khuda Hai” praise God as the One Creator of a system that runs in balance and harmony.

This is, however, not the first time Atif Aslam has sweep Coke Studio with his power-packed performance. His rendition of highly-popular Qawwali Tajdar-e-Haram in Coke Studio season 8 had smashed records of popularity on social media.
