Why Imran Khan is not a cheat?

Waqas Shabbir |

Let’s loath him, condemn him, crush him, and ridicule him for being a master of U-turn. Pakistan will continue its journey, even if Imran Khan’s dream to become prime minister does not materialize. Masses will continue their life undeterred. The wait for the Messiah will go on. Same crooks headed by a certified crony will continue its filthy journey of loot and embezzlement, unchecked.

Critics say Imran cannot be trusted for fielding electable. Imran has nothing to present but an old-wine in a new bottle. Nevertheless, same people neither object, nor condemn the PML-N’s and PPP’s electable who are respectfully accepted, under the leadership of proven narcissists and cronies.

If a crony will head a party and will manage to take forward the vested interests of his clan- top businessmen, industrialists, agriculturalists, and bureaucrats [who are always ready to join the bandwagon of an elite circle], they are welcome being experienced traders. Cronies always fund and take leverage from politicians, using whichever tool it deems workable to benefit the small minority.

West enjoys strong ties with morally bankrupt and financially corrupt politicians to blackmail Pakistan’s security establishment.

A much needed tax-break, reduction of import duty, anything which could facilitate the coffers of the rich is welcome. Imran is tailor-made to break this nexus which eroded the country’s roots. Those who paved way for the illegal transfer of billions of dollars abroad will be reprimanded.

Imran’s ability to correct his mistakes is his asset, not his nemesis as portrayed in press and civil circles across Pakistan. The way he is scrutinized on each and every aspect of his life, from his Umrah to marriages and his holidays in Nathiagali, is unprecedented. Who can think of such attention given to any other political leader?

Despite such an unparalleled scrutiny, none of the opposition party was able to bring out any corruption-related case against PTI chief. Under such media glare, in 5-years, he claims to not even have made a phone call to appoint someone at any position. The fears that cronies like Aleem Khan, Jahangir Tareen and Zulfi Bukhari will use Khan to their benefit must not be taken seriously given his past traditions to not entertain such requests.

Awarding a party ticket to an electable cannot be compared to putting billions in the pockets of importers through tax exemptions using contacts. A man who never made a call to even admit a patient at Shoukat Khannum would never tolerate such requests.

Nevertheless, same people neither object, nor condemn the PML-N’s and PPP’s electable who are respectfully accepted, under the leadership of proven narcissists and cronies.

Did former Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak collect US$273 million being a cabinet member of Mahathir? No, he did not! The return of Mahathir in Malaysia was to made example of him for the world for looting public money. Najib Razak is part of the sweeping investigation into alleged money laundering now.

Imran can be a Mahathir of our own. A strict disciplinary, like Imran, always spoke against the money laundering and Asad Umar kept the issue alive in Parliament when dollar continue to leave Pakistan illegally?

Why a Nawaz or Abbasi led government would act to take measures against these practices which are directly responsible for Pakistan’s financial struggle.  Pakistan’s foreign public debt is about to hit US$100 billion, due to lack of dollar receipts. But, who cares?

When the objective is to accumulate wealth abroad, why one would stop the fellow cronies from such criminal practices. The female models, planes and even ships will continue to move dollar to save heavens in Dubai, Panama, and Switzerland.

The elite nexus colludes with politicians to damage Pakistan at expense of poor masses. The media tycoons use the platform to influence the minds of the millions across Pakistan to sell the vested interests of their fellow cronies. When one cannot differentiate among a criminal, a police, and a judge, accountability goes into the bin. The damage inflicted on Pakistan by purposely creating a situation, when the country is on verge of incipient financial crises. Who do you blame? Aren’t those responsible who failed to curb the imports, and did not pay heed to plummeting exports?

“A mistake is an accident or the result of a bad decision. Cheating and lying are not mistakes, they are intentional choices,” Paulo Coelho said. Was it not a deliberate and intentional choice of the government to not put the end to the illegal transfer of dollar? Was it not a choice to leave the plummeting exports unnoticed during this period of apparent stability from the financial year (FY) 2014 to FY2o16?

The fears that cronies like Aleem Khan, Jahangir Tareen and Zulfi Bukhari will use Khan to their benefit must not be taken seriously given his past traditions to not entertain such requests.

Was it not a choice to reduce the import bill to leave the reserves in a better position? Nawaz and co. or should I say, Penthouse pirates made a choice to deliberately cheat this country. A weak and financially bankrupt Pakistan serves their interest. It keeps Pakistan begging from IMF or other institutions controlled by the Western powers. West enjoys strong ties with morally bankrupt and financially corrupt politicians to blackmail Pakistan’s security establishment.

Imran stands against this practice. He is in it to break the nexus to liberate poor. Loath him, condemn him, crush him, put him to the sword, but his intentions are clear and known to the one with conscious. He sometimes makes bad decisions but never cheats. This is why voting for a man who can make mistake but never cheats make sense. Will you make this choice, putting all the bad press away, relying only on his intentions to set Pakistan free of cronies? Otherwise, like’s of Najib Razzak and Sharif’s will continue cheating this beautiful country, we all love!
