DG ISPR defends Neelum Muneer’s item song in ISPR-funded movie

DG ISPR Asif Ghafoor stepped in to defend Pak Army and actress Neelum Muneer after a couple of controversies brought bad name to Pakistan’s security agency.

DG ISPR Maj Gen Asif Ghafoor came out in defense of Neelum Muneer, who was slammed for an item song in ISPR-funded movie ‘Kaaf Kangana’. The movie was subjected to severe dissension on social media following the release of the trailer of the movie and song.

Through his personal Twitter account, he shared an image of Neelum Muneer from the song and asserted that the item song is by an Indian girl in the movie as per her role. In the same tweet, Asif Ghafoor clarified the viral picture of singer Humaira Arshad performing at an event.

The picture released earlier on social media was said to be of the singer performing at an event organized in GHQ Islamabad. It was claimed that the event was organized in GHQ on Kashmir Black Day.

He denied the images and pointed out that the GHQ is in Rawalpindi and not in Islamabad, and no such event was organized ever at GHQ. “It is neither at GHQ (GHQ is at Rwp, not Islamabad) nor of an event organised for ISPR as such,” he said.

Earlier, even Neelum Muneer had defended her item song in the movie ‘Kaaf Kangana’. She defended her decision to perform in an item number ‘Khabon Mein’ from the Pakistani movie Kaaf Kangana. The actress countered dissension on social media after she posted the video of the song on Monday on one of her social media accounts.

The actress pacified her disgruntled followers by calling it a one-time decision. In her latest social media post, the actress vowed not to perform in any item song in the future. She attributed her decision to perform in an item song to her aspiration to work in an ISPR movie.

“I did this song only because this movie is a project of ISPR. Perhaps this is the first and last item song of my life. But you all know that whatever I do, I own it and I do it with pride. Pakistan key liay meri jan hamesha hazir hay. I’m sure you all will go and watch this movie. Enjoy.”

The movie is written and directed by Khalil-ur-Rehman and stars Ahsan Khan, Eshal Fayyaz and Ayesha Omar. The movie is slated to release on October 25th.
