Mahira defends Javed Sheikh after embarrassing LSA moment

News Desk |

In her latest tweet, Mahira Khan defended Javed Sheikh and described him as her mentor in the industry after the latter confronted an onslaught of criticism in his failed attempt to kiss the former at LSA award 2018.

She slammed critics on the Internet and said people should avoid making news out of everything and anything. The controversy sparked when Mahira Khan reached the stage to receive her award for Best Actress for her role in ‘Verna’ at the Lux Style Award 2018 from Javed Sheikh. While giving her the award Javed Sheikh tried to kiss the starlet on her cheek.

A video that went viral on the Internet shows Mahira Khan turning her face away to avoid this gesture from Javed Sheikh. This according to many commentators signaled her discomfort.

A number of people took to Twitter to call Sheikh out for his behavior. Mahira Khan, however, tweeted in favor of Javed Sheikh, saying she would ‘vouch for him always’.

She wrote: “I have just woken up to such silly stuff floating around. It’s good to be aware and has an opinion but for God’s sake don’t use anything and everything to make the news. Javed Sheikh of all people! He is a legend and a mentor to all of us in this industry. Would vouch for him always.”

Javed Sheikh, however, is yet to comment on this controversy. His followers demand a legitimate explanation from him for his behavior.

It seems that her tweet and reaction has not satisfied her followers who anticipated a stricter stance from the lady in the wake of the rising awareness about sexual harassment in the entertainment industry these days.

However, the outrage on Javed Shaikh’s action seems baseless since he did not attempt to harass her. It seemed like a friendly kiss on the cheek, which Mahira Khan was not willing to engage in so she moved her face away.
