Meghan Markle officially returns to Instagram with a new lifestyle brand

The Instagram bio simply identifies the endeavor as "by Meghan, The Duchess of Sussex."

Meghan Markle, spouse of Britain’s Prince Harry, is unveiling a new lifestyle brand apparently inspired by their coastal California residence. With little forewarning, an Instagram page and website for American Riviera Orchard went live on Thursday, both showcasing a golden crest emblematic of the venture.

The brand’s logo prominently features “Montecito,” the exclusive enclave where the couple has resided since 2020, near Santa Barbara, often referred to as the American Riviera. The Instagram bio simply identifies the endeavor as “by Meghan, The Duchess of Sussex.”

A spokesperson for the duchess confirmed her involvement in the project to AFP but provided no further details. American Riviera Orchard seems to revolve around kitchen and lifestyle themes. The launch was accompanied by a vintage-style promotional video, depicting Meghan Markle arranging flowers and cooking in a kitchen setting.

The initiative also introduced a mailing list, inviting users to be “the first to know about products, availability, and updates from American Riviera Orchard.”

Harry and Meghan, with Meghan being American, stepped back from their royal duties in 2020 and relocated to California. Their official Instagram account has been inactive since then, and Meghan’s personal social media accounts and former lifestyle blog were shut down before their marriage.

In recent years, the couple has pursued various media ventures, including critiquing the British royal family through high-profile projects like a Netflix documentary series and Harry’s bestselling autobiography, “Spare.”

Their exclusive podcast deal with Spotify concluded last year after just one episode. Although Netflix canceled an animated series created by Meghan, an executive for the streaming platform indicated in January that multiple projects from the couple, including a film, were still “in very early development.”
