Former Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Saqib Nisar denies the authenticity of the recently leaked audio clip attributed to him by calling it “fabricated.”
Earlier, an audio clip allegedly featuring Nisar was leaked in which a man could be heard saying that in order to make space for Imran Khan in politics, Nawaz Sharif and his daughter Maryam Nawaz would have to be punished.
In the audio clip, the man could also be heard saying that “even though there are no cases against Maryam Nawaz, she would still have to be punished.”

Reacting to the clip, ex-CJP Saqib Nisar denied that the voice in the clip was his. Moreover, he said the audio clip is an attempt to malign his name.
“This audio clip is fake which has been attributed to me,” Justice (retd) Nisar said in response to the clip while speaking to a local TV channel.
Saqib Nisar also refused that he ever gave instructions to his subordinates to send Nawaz Sharif and Maryam to jail.

According to media reports, Saqib Nisar will take legal action against those responsible for the “fabricated” audio clip.
PML-N’s response to the audio clip
The audio clip is a welcoming development for the PML-N camp. After the clip took Twitter by storm with “SaqibNisarExposed” trending once again, Maryam Nawaz tweeted “Allah hu Akbar” (Allah is the greatest).

Former finance minister Ishaq Dar quoted a verse from the Quran in response. “And they plotted, and Allah plotted, and Allah is better than all those who plot.”

Meanwhile, PML-N spokesperson Marriyum Aurangzeb said that a US-based firm certified the authenticity of the controversial leaked audio conversation.

Allegations against Saqib Nisar
Important to note, just days earlier, former Chief Justice of Gilgit Baltistan Rana Shamim stated that Saqib Nisar directed a high court to not release Nawaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz on bail at any cost before the 2018 general elections. Rana Shamim made the claims in a notarized affidavit.
On the other hand, Saqib Nisar denied the allegations made against him. While talking to the media, he said the news is far from reality. Furthermore, he stated that Shamim asked him for an extension.
