Saqib Nisar rejects accusations that he kept Nawaz & Maryam in jail

Earlier today, an explosive report quoting Rana Shamim stated that Saqib Nisar directed a high court to not release Nawaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz on bail at any cost before the 2018 general elections. However, Saqib Nisar has denied the allegations.

Former Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP)Saqib Nisar denies the allegations recently made by ex-Chief Justice Gilgit Baltistan (CJB), Rana Shamim as a complete lie.

Earlier today, an explosive report quoting Rana Shamim stated that Saqib Nisar directed a high court to not release Nawaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz on bail at any cost before the 2018 general elections.

According to the news report, Rana Shamim made the claims in a notarized affidavit. He made the statement under oath before the Oath Commissioner on November 10, 2021.

“Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz Sharif must remain in jail until the general elections are over. On assurances from the other side, he (Saqib Nisar) became calm and happily demanded another cup of tea,” the affidavit read.

Reacting to the news, Twitter flooded with a campaign against the CJP with #SaqibNisarExposed among the top trends. PML-N supporters also accused Saqib Nisar of criminal activity.

Shehbaz Sharif also tweeted on the news and called it “a grand scheme” to target Nawaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz.

“Explosive news story by Ansar Abbasi peels off a thick layer of a grand scheme employed to target Nawaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz. Allah has His own way of revealing the truth,” Shahbaz Sharif wrote.

“It is yet another vindication of Nawaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz in the court of public opinion. Alhumdulillah!” the PML-N President tweeted.

Allegations made are far from reality?

Meanwhile, Saqib Nisar denied the allegations made against him. While talking to the media, he said the news is far from reality. Furthermore, he stated that Shamim asked him for an extension.

Nisar said that Shamim had asked him for an extension but he didn’t accept his request, adding that the ex-GB CJ had also complained to him about the same.

On the other hand, Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry said the news against CJP is “absurd.”

Taking a dig at the report, Fawad said that “jokes in the name of news” were being circulated in the country to prove that Nawaz Sharif is a victim.

“Instead of fabricating conspiracy theories, the Sharifs should provide money trail for the Avenfield Apartments,” he said, adding that Maryam had claimed that “she did not own any property but it has emerged that she’s the owner of property worth billions”.
