More than 2,000 people in Dubai have converted to Islam in 2021

This happened as the center which operates under the umbrella of the Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department in Dubai (IACAD), introduced new Muslims to the tolerant principles of Islam along with that, it also provides social, educational, and religious support.

Khaleej Times reported that over 2,000 Dubai residents from different nationalities embraced Islam in 2021.

The news came as Mohammad bin Rashid Centre for Islamic Culture released official statistics, which showed that as many as 2,027 residents of Dubai took their shahada at the center over the last six months, January to June 2021.

The center operates under the umbrella of the Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department in Dubai (IACAD), which introduces new Muslims to the tolerant principles of Islam along with that, it also provides social, educational, and religious support.

The organization is involved in spreading awareness and portray a positive positive image of Islam to the people of other religions while guiding the new Muslims with the practices and major principles of Islam, Khaleej Times wrote.

Head of the New Muslims Welfare section Hana Al Jallaf said that the conversions were a result of the center’s unique discourse of promoting the soft and tolerant values of Islam through a civilized way.

The official provided the publication with the various means through which people can access the center.

According to World Population Review, there are approximately 1.9 billion Muslims globally in 2021, making Islam the second-largest religion in the world behind Christianity. The Islam population is mainly split between 1.5 billion Sunni Muslims and 240-340 million Shia Muslims, with some others belonging to smaller denominations.

It adds that the largest Muslim country is Indonesia, where an estimated 229 million Muslims are. This is 87.2% of the Indonesian population of 263 million and about 13% of the world’s population of Muslims. Muslims in Indonesia are about 99% Sunni, and the rest belong to the Shia sect.

In Indonesia, Islam can be broadly categorized into “modernism,” following orthodox theology while embracing modern learning, or “traditionalism,” following the interpretations of local religious leaders.

The top ten countries with the highest percentage of Muslims are, Mauritania with 100 percent Muslim population, Somalia with 99.80%, Tunisia with 99.80%, Afghanistan with 99.60%, Iran with 99.40%, Western Sahara with 99.40%, Turkey with 99.20%, Yemen with 99.10%, Algeria with 99.00%, and Morocco with 99.00%.

According to the last census of UAE in 2005, Islam makes up for the religion of 70 percent of the population.
