PML-N leader Salman Rafique’s guard allegedly attack Pak Army major

Guards of Khawaja Salman Rafique, who is the brother of PML-N parliamentarian Khawaja Saad Rafique, allegedly fractured Major Haris's arm and threatened him with death. However, Mr Rafique has denied any involvement.

In Lahore, PML-N leader Khawaja Salman Rafique’s guards have severely beaten a serving army officer and broken his arm. The incident took place on Feroze Pur Road on April 13, when PML-N hooligans stopped Major Haris’s car while he was going home.

After being confronted by the public, the miscreant guards ran away, leaving the officer critically injured. Major was also threatened with death by the guards of Khawaja Salman Rafique, who is the brother of the renowned PML-N parliamentarian Khawaja Saad Rafique

Khawaja Salman Rafique, Ex-Provincial Minister of Punjab and member of PML-N, and Hafiz Noman were in the next car. In a video widely shared on the internet, one of the guards can be seen holding a metal rod in his hand. After thrashing the Major, he stepped over his car.

Major Haris, a remarkable Army Officer, had served Pakistan and has defended the nation at the heights of Siachen.

The reasons behind the attack are not disclosed yet. However, Police have registered a First Information Report (FIR) and have initiated an inquiry against Khawaja Salman Rafique and his guards who attacked Major Haris.

Major Haris’s father, Chaudhry Rashid Mahmood, said his son was on his way to Iqbal Town for iftar when a Land Cruiser overtook his car near Cavalry Ground and started insulting him. When Major Harris introduced himself, the accused got angry and beat him. When his son tried to flee from the scene to save his life, he said the accused grabbed him again in front of Masood Hospital and smashed his car windows. He added that Major Harris was attacked with iron rods.

He said that the attackers also snatched his son’s phone. However, the Pakistan Army spokesman has made no statement regarding the torture of the army officer so far. However, Khawaja Salman Rafique has denied the reports of torture as baseless. Taking to Twitter, he said he doesn’t travel with guards, and the PTI media cells are spreading lies.

PML-N deputy secretary-general Atta Ullah Tarar told a presser that the Marriott Hotel incident would be repeated if anyone hurls abuse or raises slogan at any PML-N member again. But his remarks backfired at him as netizens say his attitude is not democratic at all.
