Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Vice Chairman Shah Mehmood Qureshi was rushed to the Punjab Institute of Cardiology (PIC) from jail on Saturday after experiencing chest pain, according to a report by ARY News.
His lawyer, Rana Mudassir, stated that Qureshi was moved to the hospital after Fajr prayers. Jail doctors initially examined the former foreign minister before transferring him to the hospital for further evaluation, where he is currently undergoing a series of diagnostic tests.

Mudassir also confirmed that the jail authorities had informed Qureshi’s family of his condition and were providing regular updates on his health.
Earlier, the Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in Rawalpindi indicted Qureshi, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, and several other PTI leaders in connection with the GHQ attack case. The ATC charged a total of 16 PTI leaders, including Qureshi and Gandapur.
It is noteworthy that the Islamabad High Court (IHC) recently acquitted former Prime Minister Imran Khan and Shah Mehmood Qureshi in the cipher case. The verdict was delivered by Chief Justice Aamer Farooq and Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb, who had heard the appeals challenging their convictions.

In January of the previous year, both PTI’s founder and its vice chairman had been sentenced to 10 years each in the cipher case. Despite the acquittal, their release remains unlikely, as Imran Khan continues to serve sentences in the Toshakhana and Iddat cases, while Qureshi remains in custody due to his alleged involvement in the May 9 incidents.
