Shaheen Shah Afridi to make a come back in the Pakistan squad

Pakistan’s fast bowler has made a progress from his knee injury and is battle-ready for the upcoming T20 World Cup, says Chief Pakistan Cricket Board Ramiz Raja.

According to the latest reports, Shaheen Shah Afridi has fully recovered and will be joining the T20 World Cup squad in Pakistan.

Pakistan’s fast bowler has made a progress from his knee injury and is battle-ready for the upcoming T20 World Cup, says Chief Pakistan Cricket Board Ramiz Raja.

“I had a chat with Shaheen … and he said he hasn’t felt this good in ages. So, the progress is very good,” Raja told the private news channel.

“He said he’d be battle-ready soon, it’s great news for us.”

Ramiz Raja said they did not want to rush his recovery and his rehabilitation. He said the board will not take a risk with Shaheen Shah Afridi and will make him play only even if he has recovered 110%.

“A knee injury is quite technical and a delicate issue,” the former Pakistan captain said.

“We were of the view that we won’t take the risk until he was 110% fit.

“When we spoke, Shaheen said, ‘I’m already 110%, so don’t worry. I’ll play practice matches too and will be ready for the match against India,” Ramiz Raja quoted Shaheen as saying.

Shaheen Shah Afridi did not play Asia Cup and seven T20I matches series against England. He is also not playing the tri-nation series. Afridi will join the team for Australia’s T20 World Cup. He had suffered a knee injury in the Test match against Sri Lanka in July.

Yesterday, Shaheen Shah Afridi posted a picture on social media with the caption, “Calm before the strong”. The pacer hinted at his return and come back in the team. He has been named in the playing XI of the Pakistan Cricket Team squad for T20 World Cup. Fans are also hopeful of his return to the team. They believe his addition to the team will further strengthen the pace attack of Pakistan.
