Shahid Afridi latest celebrity to test positive for COVID-19

Shahid Afridi said that he got himself tested after he felt symptoms of severe body pain of COVID-19. He got himself tested positive on Thursday and received the reports today. He asked for prayers for his health and recovery.

Pakistani cricketer Shahid Afridi has been tested positive for COVID-19. The former player announced in a Twitter post on Saturday.

Shahid Afridi said that he got himself tested after he felt symptoms of severe body pain of COVID-19. He got himself tested positive on Thursday and received the reports today. He asked for prayers for his health and recovery.

Shahid Afridi tested positive for COVID-19

“I’ve been feeling unwell since Thursday; my body had been aching badly. I’ve been tested and unfortunately, I’m COVID positive. Need prayers for a speedy recovery, InshaAllah,” wrote Shahid Afridi on Twitter.

Lots of prayers and warm wishes poured in for the star cricketer on social media. His fans wished him a speedy recovery and good health.

Shahid Afridi is the latest to join the league of celebrities affected by COVID-19. Earlier, actor and comedian Shafaat Ali and Vasay Chaudhry have tested positive for the COVID-19. The celebrities updated about their health on respective social media accounts.

Meanwhile, senior actors Rubina Ashraf and Sakina Samo have also contracted coronavirus.

Both Shafaat Ali and Vasay Chaudhry said they had mild symptoms of COVID-19. However, at the beginning of June, singer Abrar-ul-Haq informed that he was tested positive for the COVID-19. The singer took to Twitter to share the update with his fans and followers.

Meanwhile, many politicians have also tested positive for COVID-19. This includes seniors members from the PTI, PML-N’ and PPP. Maryam Aurangzeb, Shahid Khaqan Abbasi were tested positive for COVID-19. Railway Minister Sheikh Rasheed also tested positive for COVID-19.

The leader of opposition Shehbaz Sharif turned out positive for COVID-19. Currently, he has quarantined himself at home.

Shahid Afridi ran food drive during coronavirus

Before contracting the virus, Shahid Afridi was proactively working to provide relief and support to the communities adversely affected by the coronavirus lockdown.

Pakistan Shahid Afridi is running an extensive food drive across the country. Starting from Karachi, crossing the plains of Sindh, he recently reached Azad Jammu & Kashmir to distribute ration among destitute. He even reached out to people in remote areas of tribal regions and distributed food among them.

He informed that his organization has distributed ration to 22,000 families across Pakistan since the coronavirus lockdown began in Pakistan.

Pakistani star cricketer, Shahid Afridi has bought the bat of a Bangladeshi cricketer Mushfiqur Rahim for USD 20,000. Bangladeshi cricketer had auctioned the bat for a charity to help victims of coronavirus.

Shahid Afridi supported COVID-19 relief work in Bangladesh

Reportedly, cricketer, Shahid Afridi stepped in after fake bid had halted the auction. On May 19th Bangladesh’s all-rounder cricketer had put up his special bat for auction to raise charity for the coronavirus victims in his country. In a tweet, he said the auctioned bat was special for him as he scored Bangladesh‘s first Test Double Hundred against Sri Lanka in 2013 with it.

Since the middle of March 2020, Shahid Afridi traveled to the farthest areas of the country to distribute basic amenities among poverty-stricken communities.

He irked Indian media

He spent the entire month of Ramadan on roads and traveled to various places and tending to the needs of the people. From Waziristan to Quetta, he met various people and even attracted the attention of the media when he again called for the freedom of Indian Occupied Kashmir.

But a fiery campaign against Shahid Afridi began on India’s Twitter after he slammed India for atrocities in Jammu Kashmir.

Shahid Afridi recently visited Azad Kashmir to distribute ration among the people. During his short address, he expressed solidarity with the people of Kashmir. He said that he hopes Jammu Kashmir will gain its freedom soon. Adding that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has intensified atrocities in the valley in the past few months. He says bigotry and religious intolerance have gripped Narendra Modi.

In his short impassioned speech, Shahid Afridi recalled the mini aerial combat between India and Pakistan last year. He said Pakistan is a peaceful nation but they also know how to respond to uncalled aggression. He said Pakistani forces shot down the Indian jets, captured their pilot, served him tea. They also returned him to his home country. With the return of wing commander Abhinandan Varthaman, Pakistan showed its desire for peace.

However, fans hope Shahid Afridi will soon recover from COVID-19.
