The Punjab government has launched Punjab Tourism App to facilitate people who wish to explore different sites in the province, Chief Minister Usman Buzdar said Sunday.
The Government of Punjab on Sunday launched an app to facilitate people that wished to visit different historical and culturally significant sites within the province.
Tourism app contains details of 500+ culturally significant sites
The new app contains the details of more than 500 different religious, educational, as weeks as UNESCO h heritage sites.

The application contains details of such sites covering all the districts of the province.
The application is user friendly and provides details on national heroes, famous hotels along with their contact information, and it provides potential tourists with a safe route to the destination.
The app is part of an effort of the Punjab government to increase tourism to the region. It is also part of the initiative to digitalize Pakistan’s economy.

The United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) has labeled the 2020 World Tourism Day as ‘Tourism for Rural Development’, which underpins the importance of integrating local communities into the tourism value chain.

The UNWTO reported a 65 percent drop in the international tourist arrivals between January and June 2020. The situation is improving gradually and around 53 percent of global locations have eased travel restrictions with most observing strict adherence to the standard operating procedures (SOPs) for travelers and industry players.
