“Be afraid of the punishment of God, you shameless people, such punishment will come in the future that no one will be saved,” journalist Imran Afzal Raja said.

“This is not the incident of a western country, but the Sindh province. See for yourself how a woman is being treated by those living on the taxes of the public,” Hum News journalist Nadir Baloch said.

“This kind of behavior to a poor helpless woman, I don’t know where it is, but to brutally beat a mother like this?” senior journalist Sherin Zada said.

On the other hand, the Sukkur Police has registered an FIR against the sub-inspector, named Ali Muhammad Mahar, and nine others involved in abusing and torturing the beggar woman. Sukkur DIG Javed Sonharo Jiskani took notice of the incident and ordered the C-Section Sukkur Police to register an FIR against Sub Inspector Ali Muhammad Mahar and arrest him.

This is not the first time that police officials have drawn public ire for their rough treatment of the public. In November, a video of Sindh police physically assaulting protestors in Karachi’s Mujahid Colony went viral and sparked concern. Members of the civic society including political leaders demanded the PPP provincial government to look into the matter.
