Bollywood gathers to bid farewell to Raj Kapoor’s wife

Krishna Raj Kapoor, the wife of late legendary actor Raj Kapoor passed away on Monday morning after suffering from a cardiac arrest at the age of 87.

“My mother passed away at about 5 am today due to cardiac arrest…old age was another factor. We are deeply saddened by her demise,” son Randhir Kapoor told Indian news agency.

Born as Krishna Malhotra, she married Raj Kapoor in 1946 and had five children: Randhir Kapoor, Rishi Kapoor, Rajeev, and daughters Ritu and Rima. Tragically, Rishi Kapoor couldn’t be the part of the funeral as he recently had left for US for his medical treatment.

An unfortunate day in the Indian film industry, the condolences started pouring in from across the world as soon as the news spread. Notable celebrities like Anil Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor, Kajol were spotted arriving at the Kapoor residence.

The Twitter was also abuzz with condolence tweets from the celebrities. Actress Raveena Tandon while sharing the news expressed her grief on the demise of Krishna Raj Kapoor.

“Condolences to the entire Kapoor family. An era passes away, #KrishnaRajKapoor.God give you strength, and may the soul rest in peace. Om Shanti. @chintskap” Raveena Tandon said in her tweet.

Other celebrities expressed their condolence too.

Krishna Raj Kapoor was a part of the family that provided an incredible support to the budding film industry of India. She was the daughter-in-law of Prithviraj Kapoor and the wife of Raj Kapoor. She was the mother of the fabulous sons that added glory to the Indian film industry.

The third generation of Kapoor family; her grandchildren Kareena Kapoor, Ranbir Kapoor have been extremely successful in the Indian film industry not only because of their artistic family background but they have raised the bar of the Indian film industry through their spectacular performances in the past decade.

The lady’s last rites were held at Chembur Crematorium.
