Ahad Raza Mir, the co-singer of Coke Studio’s rendition of Ko Ko Korina stepped in to respond to the criticism following the spat between Human Rights Federal Minister Dr. Shireen Mazari and singer Momina Mustehsan for calling the remix version of the song “horrendous.”
Ahad, however, responded to the criticism with great poise. He expressed his displeasure over the raw criticism from Mazari. He, in the series of the tweets, addressed Dr. Shireen Mazari and asked her to reconsider the selection of the words next time.
“So there has been a lot of talk about a certain song. So let’s do just that. Talk about it.”

Ahad Raza Mir in his tweet reminded the people of previous hit produced by Coke Studio and that it has been a promising platform for the young musician and artists. He said, “Don’t forget about all the amazing music they have given you throughout the years.”
He also gave his two-cents on Mazari’s comments and said “I am also pleasantly surprised that the Minister of Human Rights noticed our attempt, although she did not have very nice things to say, I’m still happy she noticed. Just a piece of advice: better choice of words next time Ms. Minister.”

“All I’m trying to say is that we should learn to be kind. Even in our criticism. Trust me it goes a long way. Our song was a cover, and a cover is meant to deviate from the original. It is not supposed to sound or feel the same. And at the end of the day…it’s a song.”

He also called out critics to respect the artists. “Let’s respect our artists. All of them. Every time an artist’s works…they take a risk. Not for themselves…but for you. Trust me when I say we work hard for YOU. Not for ourselves. Want to criticize.. do it with love. Works better and definitely doesn’t hurt as much,” Mir continued.

So lets remember something. If we can come together to hate something, we can do the same to love. Take that however you'd like.

Actress Sajal Aly too reacted to the massive onslaught of criticism ongoing towards the Coke Studio team for Ko Ko Korina rendition. She asked the people to stop discussing it and disrespecting the art of musicians and singers since Pakistan has so much more problems.

Sajal said “Three days and counting and it is still all about Ko Ko Korina. Love it or hate it, your call but you don’t have to go to town insulting someone’s efforts. She further went on, “It’s only a song. Sing along or change the channel. We, as a country, have far more important issues to deal with.”
But it was not only Dr. Shireen Mazari who expressed her displeasure even senator Sherry Rehman too could not bar from voicing her dislike for the song. In her tweet, Rehman said, Senator Sherry Rehman agreed to Mazari’s stance and wrote, “I like the Leo Twins version of Ko Ko Korina much better than the flat version put out by Coke Studio. No harm in stating music likes and dislikes. And no need to make such choices the subject of convoluted debate.”
