Asif Zardari featured in Dutch school book for corruption?

While the authenticity of the image remains unclear, nevertheless, it has been widely circulated on social media with netizens calling it a moment of shame for Pakistan.

PPP Co-Chairman and former President of Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari has allegedly been featured in a Dutch school for his corruption charges.

According to the details, an image of a page from a Dutch school book, featuring Asif Ali Zardari, is being widely shared on social media. The page shows a picture of Asif Ali Zardari under the heading “Former Pakistani president, ‘Mister 10 percent’, arrested for corruption”.

Furthermore, the page, which seems to be a comprehension test, contains a paragraph that highlights the arrest of Asif Ali Zardari in the money laundering charges leveled against him. Apart from Asif Zardari, former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has also been mentioned.

While the authenticity of the image remains unclear, nevertheless, it has been widely circulated on social media with netizens calling it a moment of shame for Pakistan. Netizens have also urged the Netherlands Ambassador to Pakistan to take notice of the image.

Asif Ali Zardari has been accused of money laundering in several cases. However, last year, the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) decided to withdraw appeals in corruption cases registered against the former President.

Pertinent to mention that Pakistani politicians are notorious for the corruption charges against them. The Supreme Leader of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), Nawaz Sharif, was sentenced to seven years in prison by the Supreme Court of Pakistan in 2017 on corruption charges in the Panama Papers Case.

Last year, a video started doing rounds on different social media platforms, showing that Nawaz Sharif is allegedly being taught as a practical application of corruption in an international university.

A teacher at the University of Toronto, Canada, allegedly used Nawaz Sharif as the prime example of corruption during a lecture in a course. The video received a lot of traction on social media platforms, with the netizens lamenting that the former PM has once again brought embarrassment to the country.
