Best Supercars being launched in the US in 2020

Super cars have been creating a buzz in the US auto market and new models emerge every year topping all the previous ones. GVS compiled a list of best super cars being launched in 2020 in the US.

Every coming year fewer passenger cars hit the markets because of decline in sales as people in the US are swiftly moving towards sports-utility vehicles as cars of their choice. Companies are moving towards the production of super cars to meet the public demand. Speed and luxury combined, satiates the thirst of drivers who want speed combined with comfort. In the US sports cars have been reigning on the auto market sales for long and 2020 seems no exception.

But what mixes up to be a great sports car? What are the ingredients for a masterpiece that speeds straight to the buyer’s heart? Is it speed? Handling? Design? Curves? Space? Technology? Or a combination of all?

2020 SSC Tuatara

SSC Tuatara, the most awaited supercar, is on the roads and its specs are amazing. A twin-turbocharged 5.9-litre V8 engine powers up the Tuatara with 1,350 horsepower on 91 Octane and a staggering 1,750 horsepower on E85, with SSC saying that this beast will be able to go up to 300 mph (483 kph).

SSC is all set to retake the title of World’s fastest production car with Tuatara by beating Koenigsegg Agrera RS’ top speed 277.87 mph (447.19 kph) by quite a margin. Tuatara’s body is something to marvel at. According to company’s official website, car’s body has been influenced by fighter jet’s aerodynamics. Its “Butterfly Doors” offers a beautiful curbside attraction. At the front end, there is a compartment for luggage while a reveled engine at the back offers a view of a monster engine.

Only 100 pieces will be built.

SSC Tuatara is estimated to be priced at $2 million.

Aston Martin Rapide E

Rapide E is being dubbed as first all-electric Aston Martin which, according to company’s official website, which has been designed to enhance and build on the feel, character and delivery of the V12-engine Rapide AMR. Rapide E is being hailed for its agile, controlled and beautifully balance drive.

The British exotic car maker, Aston Martin, in special collaboration with Williams Advanced Engineering, (the technical arm of the Williams F1 team) paid special attention to Rapide’s optimal aerodynamic performance for better performance at great speeds.

Rapide comes in Aluminum and Carbon fiber body parts and boasts a two rear mounted motors that produces 600 Horsepower and 700 pounds of Torque. At top speed of 155 mph this beast can go 0-60 mph in under 4 seconds.

Rapide will be able to go 200 miles before needing a recharge.

Only 155 units will be produced and each will cost around $260,000.

McLaren GT

The supercar maker, McLaren, reimagined its versatility in cars and results are strikingly beautiful. The name GT (Grand Tourer) comes with the “continent crossing” capability of this supercar.

A Grand Tourer is a more accommodating model rather than two seat model that sports cars usually offer. The super sleek carbon fiber body with elegant aluminum panels is for the purpose of weight reduction.

The McLaren GT is powered by a 4.0-liter V8 engine that generates a lusty 612 horsepower with 465 pound-feet of launch happy torque and can reach 60 mph in a quick 3.1 seconds with a top speed of 203 mph.

A new Damping Control Suspension system promises the smoothest ride.

The base price is $210,000.

2020 Lotus Evora GT

The 2020 Lotus Evora GT is a lightweight sports car that offers fantastic handling. Evora GT features a supercharged 3.5 liter V6 engine which tops at 316 horsepower and 332 pounds of Torque. Evora GT can go up to 188 mph.

Lotus has played with Carbon fiber body in their latest production. Lotus Evora was not just created for race tracks rather its functional aerodynamic body, aluminum chassis can be applied for simple road use.

Its versatility in style of transmission allows the driver to modify it according to his racing track need or GT needs. The interior is comfortable with uniquely padded leather carrying twin color stitching.

Lotus outdid itself with the entertainment system in Lotus Evora GT with an integrated 7” touch-screen entertainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Bluetooth functionality, satellite navigation and reversing camera also comes as standard.

Lotus Evora GT 2020 price starts at $96,950.

Ford Mustang Shelby GT500

Ford Mustangs are American favorites. Their strong bodies paired with an even stronger powertrain engine couples up to give the best ride experience to the driver. Mustang Shelby 2020’s hand-built supercharged 5.2 liter V8 engine can produce whopping 760 horsepower and 625 pound of Torque through the rear wheels supporting a seven speed dual clutch automatic transmission. Ford official stats say this power engine can take Shelby at 60 mph in less than 3 seconds.

The new model loses the back seats for better aerodynamic structuring and its elegant venom body boasts the largest front brake rotors in American sports coupe to help put a leash on Ford’s uncontrollable horse.

Ford GT price is a modest $73,995.
