Former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif left for London in 2019 on the basis of medical treatment. However, he has not returned since. On several occasions, PML-N has hinted at his return.
The coalition government had plead for the formulation of a full court for the hearing of the case, however, after hearing arguments from both parties, Supreme court rejected the plea.
In a series of tweets, a senior journalist, without naming anyone, hinted that an individual from the Sharif family has run campaigns against PML-N supreme leader Nawaz Sharif.
PTI leader Fawad Chaudhry, during a retaliatory press conference, said the judiciary has been very lenient with Maryam Nawaz considering the cases against her and her father, former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.
"Institutions are insulted from within, not outside. One wrong decision blows up an entire case. Criticism isn't needed where the right decisions are taken," Maryam Nawaz said.
After giving an ultimatum, Javed Latif warned that if the voice of democracy is not listened to then this protest will take place "outside ECP against PTI's foreign funding case, outside institutions in Rawalpindi, Islamabad or any other place."
The matter will come under discussion in the 21st Session of the Pak-Iran Joint Economic Commission (JEC) which is scheduled to be held from August 16-19 in Islamabad.
