Court extends interim bail of Asif Zardari, Faryal Talpur in money laundering case

Karachi banking court has extended interim bail of former President Asif Ali Zardari and his sister Faryal Talpur till January 7, 2019 in Fake accounts case.

On expiry of their interim bail in fake accounts case, Asif Ali Zardari and Faryal Talpur reached banking court Friday and the court extended their bail till January 07.

The major accused in fake accounts case Hussain Lawai was not presented in the court. Shaukat Hayat, the counsel for Hussain Lawai told the court that court’s orders are being violated. His client should be produced in the court.

About allegation levelled by PTI against Asif Ali Zardari pertaining to his property in US, he said if PTI has any proof it should bring it.

On the occasion of the appearance of Asif Zardari in banking court, PPP leaders including Senator Rehman Malik, former chief minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah, local bodies minister Saeed Ghani, Nisar Khuro, Imtiaz Sheikh, Suleman Murad, Waqar Mehdi, Rashid Rabbani, Ejaz Jakhrani and others were also present.

The PPP workers tried to penetrate into the courtroom and chanted slogans in support of Asif Zardari. The judge of the court expressed annoyance over this situation.  Later the court extended the bail of Asif Zardari and Faryal Talpur till January 07.

Talking to media men outside the court, PPP leaders expressed annoyance over speculations about the arrest of Asif Zardari and Faryal Talpur.

Senator Rehman Malik said “false allegations were levelled against Asif Ali Zardari. Case against PPP is not a new thing. Media trial of PPP should be stopped. The allegations will remain allegations only unless the investigations are completed. The matter is subjudice, therefore, it should not be discussed.”

“Those who are behind spreading rumours about the arrest of Asif Zardari should tender an apology,” he asserted.

Khurshid Shah said, “they (NAB) are having no evidence against Asif Ali Zardari and Faryal Talpur, therefore, only fabrications are being made. We have witnessed good and bad era and good and bad decisions of the judiciary. We are mentally prepared for all type of situation. But we are being subjected to a media trial.”

He added that the prevailing situation is not new for us. We have seen all judges from Justice Munir to Justice Saqib Nisar. About allegation levelled by PTI against Asif Ali Zardari pertaining to his property in US, he said if PTI has any proof it should bring it.

Khurshid Shah said media trial takes over judicial trial. On one hand media trial is being conducted and on the other hand, commentary is offered on under trial cases despite court restrictions.
