Crackdown against PTI racks up after Imran Khan’s arrest

Following Imran Khan’s arrest, chaos erupted in Pakistan as the public heavily protested the arrest, with reports of violence and clashes between police and the protestors.

Following the arrest of PTI Chairman and former Prime Minister Imran Khan, a crackdown against PTI workers and leaders has intensified.

Several PTI leaders have claimed that their houses were raided after Imran Khan’s arrest. PTI social media lead Azhar Mashwani claimed that his house was raided twice last night by men in Counter-Terrorism Department uniforms.

“My house was raided twice last night by people in plain clothes and CTD uniforms,” Azhar Mashwani said.

The house of President of PTI Women’s Wing Central Punjab Dr Nausheen Hamid was also raided at 4:00 am today. The main entrance door of her house was broken down and her sons were also tortured.

PTI senior leader Dr Shahbaz Gill revealed that the house of his assistant Arsalan Butt was raided. He shared CCTV footage of a man dressed in police uniform climbing over the walls of the house and opening the gates to let other men in.

PTI also claimed that law enforcement officials conducted a raid on the residence of the party’s leader Usman Dar. Clips were shared of Usman Dar’s ransacked house. The police also surrounded Usman Dar’s mother and after spotting the camera outside, one of them drew the curtains to obstruct the view.

Meanwhile, PTI leaders were also arrested after the arrest of their Chief. Former Punjab governor Omar Sarfaraz Cheema was arrested early Wednesday during a raid by the Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) Punjab on charges of abuse of power.

PTI Sindh President Ali Haider Zaidi was also taken into police custody. A sessions court on Tuesday granted interim pre-arrest bail to Ali Haider Zaidi in a rioting and criminal intimidation case.

Tuesday, Imran Khan was arrested by National Accountability Bureau (NAB) in the Al-Qadir Trust corruption case. The PTI Chief was taken into custody by Rangers personnel, who were acting on the NAB’s warrant from the premises of Islamabad High Court where the former premier had gone to seek bail in multiple cases registered against him.
