ECB security team returns ‘satisfied’ with Pakistan’s security arrangements

After a hasty withdrawal last year, English cricket team is set to visit Pakistan after 17 years in this September to play seven t20 internationals.

The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) delegation is pleased with the security and other arrangements for the seven-match T20I series between England and Pakistan and will submit its findings to the ECB.

The four-member ECB team comprising Richard Snowball, Robert Lynch, John Carr and Reg Dickson arrived in the country on July 17 to visit the potential venues of seven games to be played between both countries. They visited Karachi, Lahore, Multan and Islamabad and also met with the security officials to review and assess the security preparations made for the England team’s tour to Pakistan later this year.

The security team also inspected the airports and the routes which team’s would take for their travel to and from the stadium to the hotel. English security team also met with the senior officials of Punjab Police and received detailed briefings.

A briefing was given to the security team regarding the security arrangements via Safe City projects. Information about the usage of sensitive technology was also shared.

Four-member team also visited National High Performance Centre in Lahore. Dates of the historic tour will be finalized after ECB reviews the delegation reports.

England’s test team will come to Pakistan after the t20 world cup to play two test matches which are part of the 2021-2023 ICC world test championship.

Earlier this year, Australian cricket team visited Pakistan and played three test matches, three ODIs and one t20i. New Zealand team is also expected to visit Pakistan in the next year.
