Indian minister admitted to hospital after drinking polluted water

Indian Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann was admitted to the hospital after he drank a glass of polluted water from the ‘holy river’ in Delhi on Wednesday. Mann contracted a stomach infection shortly after drinking the water.

He deliberately drank the water from the polluted river to show that the water is safe for consumption by humans. His video of downing a glass of water in the river and then drinking it went viral on social media. Mann had visited Sultanpur on the 22nd anniversary of the renovation of a reservoir called Kali Bein.

Bhagwant Mann reported pain in his stomach shortly after drinking the water and was admitted to the hospital. The minister remained in the hospital for two days. Punjab administration had denied that the minister was admitted to hospital and instead claimed that the minister was healthy.

Aam Admi Party of India shared the video of Bhagwant Mann drinking the water from the river in Sultanpur.

Chief Minister was invited by Rajya Sabha MP Baba Balbir Singh had invited the Chief Minister to participate in the 22nd anniversary of the cleaning of river Kali Bein and offered him a glass of water from the river to drink.

The Punjab Chief Minister drank the water from the river which is usually polluted with the sewage from surrounding neighborhoods without hesitation.

n the video tweeted by AAP’s Punjab unit, the text read, “CM @BhagwantMann while drinking holy water at Sultanpur Lodhi, the land touched by Guru Nanak Sahib’s feet. Rajya Sabha member Sant Sicheval Ji has taken up the task of cleaning the holy place.”

The incident happened after the Indian Punjab government had decided to clean the river and drains. “Bhagwant Mann also drank water from the Bein and said that he was blessed to have got this opportunity,” it added.
