India’s Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri trolled after ceasefire call

Diplomat Targeted: Ceasefire Fallout Sparks Online Fury and Family Harassment.

Indian Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri faced harsh online vitriol following the announcement of the ceasefire agreement between India and Pakistan.

A ceasefire was announced between India and Pakistan on May 10th, after Pakistan’s armed forces gave a befitting response to the continuous aggression.

Indian netizens unleashed their fury against Vikram Misri, who was then forced to lock his X account. Not only him, but trolls targeted his family, including his daughter.

Following the launch of Operation Sindoor targeting Pakistan, Misri, as foreign secretary, helmed the Ministry of External Affairs’ briefings during the four-day military conflict between both countries. According to a few speculations, some furious trolls even tried the leak the number of his daughter online.

Trolls dug up the profile of his daughter, who had worked with the United Nations High Commission for Refugees in Myanmar, and accused her of helping Rohingya Muslims.

Initially, Misri did not gather any support from the Minister of External Affairs of India, Jai Shankar.  Now, several diplomats and politicians are coming forward in his support.

A fierce battle took place between India and Pakistan last week. Both sides claimed to have inflicted heavy damage on each side. Pakistan claims to have downed five Indian jets, including 3 Rafales. Several international media outlets are backing the claims made by Pakistan of downing five Indian jets.

However, the Indian government is evading comments on the questions regarding the downing of the jets. Meanwhile, Pakistan denied capturing an Indian Pilot Amid Operation Banyan-un-Marsoos. DG ISPR called the social media claims fake news. In his presser, he emphasized that the military response was strategic and precise.

International and local media outlets attended the joint presser organized by the top officials from the three armed forces following Pakistan’s operation Banyan-un-Marsoos. The title of the operation has been coined from the scripture of the Holy Quran, implying ‘Wall of Steel’, in response to India’s Operation Sindoor.
