Junaid Safdar not joining Pakistani politics for now

As media reports on Junaid Safdar's return to help his mother in politics made the rounds, speculations were rife that Junaid is kickstarting his political career and may also be taking part in the upcoming elections.

Junaid Safdar, the son of PML-N senior Vice President Maryam Nawaz, has rejected the reports of joining politics in Pakistan – for now.

While speaking to the media after arriving in Pakistan, Junaid Safdar clarified that neither is he contesting elections nor taking part in politics. He said he has only moved to Pakistan permanently to fulfill the responsibilities owed to his family.

“I am not interested in Pakistani politics, for now. I have only moved to Pakistan to fulfill the responsibilities owed to my mother and family. I will be assisting my mother in her work and family matters but I will not be taking part in politics,” Junaid Safdar told the media.

Junaid Safdar has returned to Pakistan to assist his mother Maryam Nawaz after her promotion as PML-N’s senior vice president and chief organizer.

 

As media reports on Junaid Safdar’s return to help his mother in politics made the rounds, speculations were rife that Junaid is kickstarting his political career and may also be taking part in the upcoming elections.

However, he has clarified that he has no such intentions for now. Junaid has also confirmed that his mother planned to return to Pakistan in the third week and will be focussing full-time on politics.

Maryam Nawaz left Pakistan for London last year with the pretext of returning with her father former Prime Minister and PML-N supreme leader Nawaz Sharif. Currently, the father-daughter duo is in Geneva. Maryam Nawaz is expected to return to the country in about a week after her Geneva visit.

Maryam Nawaz will now take center stage in PML-N after her promotion. PML-N President Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif approved her appointment. Maryam Nawaz was earlier holding the office of PML-N’s vice president before the promotion and has been highly active in running the party’s election campaigns and holding public gatherings in different cities. With her new role as PML-N Senior Vice President and Chief Organizer, Maryam Nawaz will reshuffle PML-N at all levels/tiers.
