Miftah Ismail launches election candy to woo voters of NA-249

Miftah Ismail, the former finance minister of Pakistan, was spotted distributing candies among children as part of his election campaign.

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz candidate, Miftah Ismail, has launched candy for the election campaign for by-polls in the NA-249 constituency of Karachi.

Miftah Ismail, the former finance minister of Pakistan, was spotted distributing candies among children as part of his election campaign. The by-elections are being organized after Pakistan Tehreek-I-Insaf parliamentarian, Faisal Vawda, had resigned from the seat.

The pictures of candy floating on social media showed it is wrapped up in the cover with the party’s name imprinted on it. The front side of the wrapper of the candy has the image and name of Miftah Ismail.

In his statement, Ismail said that he is giving the candy since it is the tradition of his family. “My father and grandfather had companies [of candies and biscuits,” said Miftah Ismail.

All the political parties are closely vying for the by-poll elections in Karachi. At least, 55 candidates from different parties have submitted their nomination papers and are hoping to win the election.

Amid such huge competition, Miftah Ismail came with a ‘sweet’ way to woo the voters to vote for him.

Mustafa Kamal, former mayor of Karachi, has also submitted his nomination paper for the election.

Meanwhile, Miftah Ismail has bemused social media users who are praising his innovative style of the election campaign.

Another candidate, Ayaz Motiwala, was seen posing in garbage and gutter in an unmatched election campaign.

While innovative campaigns may attention on social media, they may hardly earn success on the ground. Winning an election and getting praise on social media are two different things.

People of the constituency are more focused on the solution of their problems and relief. A temporary amusement cannot sustain the trust of the voters for long. Hence, the potential parliamentarians should focus more on strategizing about how they will providing relief to the people of the constituency after winning the election.
