“Previously, consumers and distributors had to import pet food from all over the world which was a costly process and it was usually through a grey channel”, Mr. Jehangir, owner of a Pet food business in Islamabad spoke to GVS. “Purina is a globally recognized franchise and the variety it offers…I think it would prove a game changer for the market.”
Commenting on the size of the pet foods market, Mr. Jahangir said that the trend is exponentially on the rise “People have become aware. They’re learning about pet care, different kinds of foods and their composition. A testimony to the fact is that up until a few years ago, there used to be 4-5 dog shows nationwide. Now, there are 15-20 dog shows nationwide every year. Plus, there are a lot of pet-oriented associations forming which is another good sign”.
To mark the launch of the brand, a Dog Show was held at the Rafi Cricket Stadium which was judged by the renowned dog breeder Tabtah Buckley Bettis, who traveled to Pakistan all the way from the United States of America, particularly to be part of the guests’ panel.
