Pakistan’s PM blasts Indian killing spree in occupied Kashmir

News Desk |

Prime Minister Imran Khan on Monday denounced the recent violence by Indian security forces in occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

At least 14 people were killed in the fresh act of state terrorism by the occupation forces in different areas, including Kulgam and Rajouri areas of Kashmir.

The prime minister in a tweet against the Indian aggression said, “Strongly condemn the new cycle of killings of innocent Kashmiris in IOK by Indian security forces”.

This attack was one of the deadliest ever on the occupying forces in the picturesque valley.

“It is time India realized it must move to resolve the Kashmir dispute through dialogue in accordance with the UNSC resolutions & the wishes of the Kashmiri people,” he added.

Nine youth were killed and more than fifty injured in Laroo area of Kulgam district by the Indian forces.

Three of them were martyred when the troops blasted a house. The rest were killed in troops’ firing and in an explosion that happened while people were removing the debris of the blasted house. The incident followed a cordon and joint search operation in the district.

Two youth were martyred in Rajouri area of Jammu region on Sunday.

Violence in Indian Occupied Kashmir exacerbated after the assassination of Burhan Wani in 2016. Protests erupted as a result of this and IOK was shut down by Indian forces after curfews were imposed.

This cycle of violence reached its pinnacle after an Indian military base in Uri was attacked in which more than 20 Indian military personnel were killed by Kashmiri freedom fighters. This attack was one of the deadliest ever on the occupying forces in the picturesque valley.

India must know that the use of state-sponsored terrorism will only foment further violence in IOK and the only solution to the problem is dialogue.

India immediately pointed fingers at Pakistan for masterminding the attack and claimed that it had conducted a ‘surgical strike’ in late 2016 as retaliation and gave Pakistan a ‘bloody nose’. However, no concrete evidence was provided to prove these assertions.

Since 2016, the valley seems to be gripped in violence with hundreds of Kashmiris being killed and thousands more injured. These heavy-handed policies of Modi government will only exacerbate the violence in the region.

PM Khan’s tweet expresses Pakistan desire to end the violence in IOK. Pakistan since the inauguration of the new government in August has asked India to settle all disputes including Kashmir through dialogue; an offer which India has blatantly refused.
