PTI’s Farrukh Habib booked for “attacking police officers”

The FIR states that Farrukh Habib allegedly tore the uniforms of the officers and snatched a wireless set from them. Meanwhile, sharing the FIR on Twitter, Farrukh Habib called the allegations made in the FIR a "funny story".

In a major development, a case has been registered against PTI leader and former state minister Farrukh Habib in Sheikhupura for ‘interfering in official affairs’ and ‘tearing uniforms of policemen’.

According to the details, PTI’s Farrukh Habib has been booked under sections 148, 149, 186, 225, 341, 353, and 395 of the Pakistan Penal Code. The FIR said that as the police were transporting PTI Senior Vice President Fawad Chaudhry to Islamabad, a group of individuals led by Habib blocked the way at the entry points at the Kala Shah Kaku Toll Plaza in an attempt to free the former federal minister.

Meanwhile, sharing the FIR on Twitter, Farrukh Habib called the allegations made in the FIR a “funny story”.

“Alone Farrukh Habib robbed trained policemen carrying dozens of guns and also tore their uniforms, says the text of FIR. A very funny story has been made. By the way, I had stopped the black Vigo without a number plate to tell the court orders, where did the robbery come from with the police?” Farrukh Habib said on Twitter.

On Wednesday, Farrukh Habib pursued a police convoy transporting Fawad Chaudhry to Islamabad. A heated exchange of words occurred between Farrukh Habib and the police officers as he lambasted them for defying court orders. Furthermore, Farrukh Habib also positioned himself in front of the vehicles of the security agencies at the Lahore Toll Plaza.

“The Lahore High Court summoned Fawad Chaudhry. We will not allow the violation of judicial orders,” Farrukh Habib claimed throughout the incident. To clarify, the Lahore High Court had earlier ordered that Fawad Chaudhry be present before the court, however, the police convoy continued to transport him to Islamabad.
