Sajal Aly shares first glimpse of her international debut

"I am thrilled to share my first look from What's Love Got To Do With It?" the actress said on social media.

Pakistani actress Sajal Aly shared the first glimpse of her upcoming international debut ‘What’s Love Got To Do With It. She posted the picture on her Instagram account. The beautiful actress was seen dressed in the pink shalwar Kameez. Aly had set the dupatta on her head.

Her hairs have been tied up in a loose simple braid with a minimal make-up look. Behind her can be seen the rest of the cast of the film. Sharing the picture she said, “I am thrilled to share my first look from What’s Love Got To Do With It?” She added, “And also the exciting news that the Toronto International Film Festival will host its World Premiere on Saturday, September 10.”

Variety Exclusive revealed the first look of the movie.  The actor plays the pivotal character of Maymouna. “I love to play characters that have depth and define the narrative of a project and I think I am very fortunate that my character Maymouna in my international English-language debut ‘What’s Love Got to Do With It?’ has also given me the same opportunity,” Aly told the publication.

Variety further stated that “What’s Love Got to Do With It? follows documentary-maker and dating app addict Zoe (Lily James), for whom swiping right has only delivered an endless stream of Mr. Wrongs, to her eccentric mother Cath’s (Emma Thompson) dismay.”

The statement added, “For Zoe’s childhood friend and neighbor Kaz (Shazad Latif), the answer is to follow his parents’ example and opt for an arranged (or “assisted”) marriage to a bright and beautiful bride from Pakistan. As Zoe films Kaz’s journey from London to Lahore to marry a stranger, chosen by his parents, she begins to wonder if she might have something to learn from a profoundly different approach to finding love.”

The film will be released in cinemas on January 27th next year. The film has been produced by Jemima Goldsmith, former wife of former Prime Minister Imran Khan. The film was first announced in 2020 when the journalist announced that she will be producing her first romantic comedy.
