Shahid Afridi receives backlash for his statements on NRO

He passed the statement in a media talk. Talking to media, he said, politics is a very different game. There is no individual in this game. Pakistan belongs to everyone.

Former cricketer Shahid Afridi responds to ongoing backlash against him on social media following his remarks on NRO.  A video of cricketer went viral in which he said that no politician can give NRO, its the institution that can give NRO.

He passed the statement in a media talk. Talking to media, he said, politics is a very different game. There is no individual in this game. Pakistan belongs to everyone.

Afridi said that not everyone is bad, there are good and bad people in both opposition and government. However, everyone has to work together for the sake of country.

When asked how circumstances of the country would have been different if all the stakeholders had worked together. He responded that, conditions of the country would have been different and better if all had worked together.

At the end of the talk he said that giving NRO to someone is in the hands of the institution and not the premier.

Since then he has been receiving backlash. Digital journalist Imran Riaz Khan responding to the statements of Shahid Afridi said the national hero has disappointed his fans today. He could have raised the issue of arrests in the country.

Khan said that he people’s patience ran out when he criticised it most popular leader of the nation. He added that it was another poor selection by Shahid Afridi. The digital journalist added that by condemning the arrests he could have return the love back to his followers.

Responding to his tweet, Shahid Afridi reiterated his stance on his admiration for Imran Khan. In his tweet on X, the former cricketer said that Imran Khan was his inspiration to join the cricket. However, false propaganda and lies will not serve Imran Khan and his party PTI in any way.
