TikTok star Jannat Mirza slammed for disrespecting Christianity’s cross sign

Pakistan's Jannat Mirza is being accused of blasphemy as Christian activists file a complaint against her with Federal Investigative Agency for wearing a silver chain with a cross hanging on it.

Pakistan’s top-rated TikTok celebrity, Jannat Mirza, has been accused of insulting a cross symbol of Christianity. Cross sign is a revered religious sign in Christianity, people of the community have slammed her for wearing it as a fashion accessory.

Christian activists have filed a complaint against Jannat Mirza with Federal Investigative Agency. She has been severely slammed on social media since last week after she posted several videos wearing a silver chain with a cross hanging on it around her waist.

The complainant had filed a case of blasphemy against her. “Mirza has intentionally desecrated across, the holy sign of Christians. She has hurt the religious feelings of millions of Pakistani Christians. She should be punished and arrested,” they stated in a May 28 complaint.

Raja Walter, one of the complainants had said that the cyber wing of the FIA had called the activist for investigation.

“Deleting videos doesn’t make any difference. They don’t spare our community in blasphemy cases. We also demand a first information report against Mirza,” Walter said while expressing his anger against the social media celebrity during his interview with UCA News.

“Last year she uploaded a video wearing pants with images of Jesus and Mary. But the FIA took no action against her, arguing that it was filmed in Switzerland.”

Following the video, Christian activists had garnered support on social media with netizens calling out to boycott her.

Last year, another girl named Nimra Ali was slammed for passing derogatory comments for her Christian maid.

Meanwhile, Jannat Mirza is the most followed TikTok celebrity in Pakistan. She hails from Faisalabad and is only following 16 people on her TikTok, however, Jannat Mirza is followed by two million people on her TikTok.

She has already made a debut in the entertainment industry when she appeared in a music video.
