Pakistani singer Abrar-ul-Haq has issued a legal notice to UK record label Moviebox Birmingham Limited which claims to have rights to the song. The legal notice comes days after Abrar-ul-Haq had said that he will be taking legal action against Bollywood director Karan Johar for stealing his song Nach Panjaban for his movie Jugjug Jeeyo.
Taking to Twitter on Sunday Haq said: “My lawyers in the United Kingdom have issued a legal notice to Moviebox with respect to the misappropriation of my song Nach Punjaban.” He said that he will share the updates soon with people. The singer ended his tweet with the hashtag “Stop Stealing Our Songs”.
Moviebox has not yet responded to the legal notice by Abrar-ul-Haq. The original Nach Panjaban song has been written and produced by Abrar-ul-Haq. Nach Panjaban is sourced to Spotify from Moviebox.

Earlier the record label had said that the song had been “licensed to be included” to use in Karan Johar’s song. It claimed that Dharma Productions have the “legal rights to use the song for their upcoming movie. It called the statements of Abrar-ul-Haq “defamatory and completely unacceptable.”
Following this, Haq reiterated that this song has not been licensed to any entity. “Nach Punjaban has not been licensed to anyone. If someone is claiming it, then produce the agreement. I will be taking legal action,” he tweeted.
Few days back, Bollywood actor Varun Dhawan had praised Pakistani singer Abrar-ul-Haq in his interview over singing Nach Punjaban. His remarks came in the latest interview in response to the question regarding the controversy over the song.
Dhawan said that the production house has bought the rights to the songs. The song was released in 2002 and was originally sung by Abrar-ul-Haq. It was a massive hit in Pakistan. The song has been recreated with the title ‘The Punjabban Song’ for Karan Johar’s movie Jugjugg Jeeyo. The movie star Varun Dhawan, Neetu Kapoor, Anil Kapoor, and Kiara Advani.
