Attaullah’s daughter, first Pakistani to be nominated for VES Award

Laraib Atta– the daughter of popular singer Attaullha Essa Khelvi, hailing from southern Punjab –became the first Pakistani to be nominated in the Visual Effect Society Award 2019. The 17th Visual Effect Society Award was held on 5th February 2019.

Laraib though could not win the award but still, it has been a massive achievement on part of Lariab to solely represent Pakistan at an international level. Laraib was nominated for the category of Outstanding Compositing in a Photoreal Episode’ for TV Show “Altered Carbon” for which she worked as a visual artist. Laraib Atta shared exciting news on her social media account of Instagram.

Laraib posted on her account stating that “I’ve been nominated for #visualeffectssociety awards for my work in #alteredcarbon Attending the awards this week at #beverleyhills. Unlike her father, Laraib did not join the music industry in Pakistan yet she actively pursued her career in visual arts at an international level.

VES has over 3,700 members in more than 35 countries worldwide who contribute to all areas of entertainment – film, television, commercials, animation, music videos, games, and new media.

Laraib stepped in Hollywood in 2006 at the age of 19. She first started working on an advertisement for Disney, George Michael, and Rolling Stones. Earlier at the age of 16, she worked on a Hollywood project of Johny Depp’s Sweeney Todd, 10,000 BC, and then the Chronicles of Narnia sequels.

She also worked on the Olympics promo China, Nike Football World Cup promo that was aired all around the world and she became a part of VFX and media companies including BBC, Sky, and also Spanish TV. She has been a part of the teams that worked on Godzilla, Gravity and X-Men and many more.
