The source of alarming claims about Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan’s health remains unclear after his sister Rubina Khan and son Kasim Khan raised concerns over his reported blood pressure spike, while his lawyer Salman Safdar distanced himself from the information circulating on social media.
Rubina Khan, in a statement shared by Kasim Khan on social media, claimed that her brother had conveyed a message indicating that his blood pressure had suddenly risen to 192. She also alleged that the former prime minister’s life was under threat while he remained incarcerated.
Rubina demanded that Imran Khan be immediately transferred to an independent medical institution for treatment in the presence of his personal physician.
Kasim Khan also expressed concern over his father’s health, linking the reported blood pressure spike to his prolonged isolation in prison. He warned that Imran Khan could die in his cell if he was not released.
The statements prompted widespread concern about the former prime minister’s physical condition, particularly as they emerged shortly after his lawyer met him at Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi.
Salman Safdar Distances Himself From Health Claims
Safdar, who met Imran Khan on November 2, rejected the impression that he was the source of the alarming information shared by the former prime minister’s family.
Speaking about the reports, the lawyer described himself as a professional legal practitioner, emphasising that his responsibilities were limited to legal matters and that he was not acting as a messenger for anyone.
His clarification has raised questions about how the reported blood pressure reading and claims regarding Imran Khan’s deteriorating health reached his sister and son.
Following his meeting at Adiala Jail, Safdar had disclosed that the authorities facilitated a 40-minute interaction with Imran Khan and his wife, Bushra Imran, at around 4:30pm on November 2.
The lawyer said he had met Imran Khan after a gap of seven months, while his meeting with Bushra Bibi took place after 11 months. He added that the meetings had been secured following repeated applications and requests.
In a post on X, Safdar said the limited time available was insufficient to discuss all pending cases and legal matters.
He added that both Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi had briefed him about their health and living conditions and provided fresh instructions concerning certain legal proceedings.
Sources Offer Different Account of Imran Khan’s Health
Meanwhile, sources familiar with the circumstances surrounding the meeting have provided a somewhat different account of Imran Khan’s health.
According to these sources, the former prime minister did mention that his blood pressure had risen to approximately 190 on one occasion.
However, they described him as otherwise generally fit and did not suggest that he was facing an immediate, serious medical emergency.
The account has added another layer of uncertainty to the reports, with the family’s concerns appearing significantly more alarming than the information shared by other sources.
The sources also indicated that Imran Khan was particularly concerned about the health of his wife, Bushra Bibi, who reportedly has an eye-related problem.
Her health condition was said to have been among the issues discussed during the meeting with the lawyer.
Questions Over Communication From Jail
The differing accounts have raised questions about the communication channels through which information about Imran Khan’s health is being conveyed to his family.
It remains unclear whether Rubina Khan and Kasim Khan received a separate message directly from the former prime minister or whether the information was communicated through another individual.
Neither Rubina Khan nor Kasim Khan has publicly identified the person who conveyed the reported health update to them.
Safdar’s clarification that he was not the source of the claims has further complicated efforts to establish how the information reached the family.
The reported blood pressure reading of 192 has also become a focal point of the discussion, particularly as concerns over Imran Khan’s prison conditions and access to medical care continue to attract public attention.
The former prime minister’s family has called for immediate medical intervention, while the account shared by other sources suggests that his condition may not be as critical as initially portrayed.
The discrepancy has left questions surrounding Imran Khan’s health unanswered, with no clear explanation yet emerging about the origin of the alarming claims.
The situation has also renewed attention on the former prime minister’s medical access during his incarceration, as his family continues to express concern over his well-being.
As the conflicting accounts circulate, the precise circumstances surrounding Imran Khan’s reported blood pressure spike, his current medical condition and the source of the information shared by his sister and son remain unclear.
