Billion tree Tsunami to 10bn tree initiative: PM Khan’s Naya Pakistan is the fastest greening country

On Sunday, Prime Minister Imran Khan stated that the success of the Billion Tree Tsunami project encouraged the government to take the initiative of Ten Billion Tree Tsunami project.

He stated, “From nurseries to full forest areas, the success of the Billion Tree Tsunami has been unprecedented with public & Pvt involvement. Has given us the confidence to take the initiative to 10 bn trees. KP’s forest cover has increased by 4%, contributing to the fight against climate change.”

The PTI-led government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa initiated the tree plantation drive in 2013 to tackle the climatic change since Pakistan has been listed amongst the top six countries to be adversely affected by the weather changes in the coming years.

NASA’s images are endorsed by the United Nations, Bonn Convention, and the World Economic Forum. The arable land in Pakistan has grown rapidly in the last four to five years.

After assuming office, Prime Minister Imran Khan had pledged to begin the countrywide Ten Billion Tree Tsunami project. The green-growth aims to reduce deforestation and the resultants devastation caused by floods in the region.

Meanwhile, the latest satellite images released by National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) shows that Pakistan is the fastest greening country in the world due to the recent reforestation projects including the Billion Tree Tsunami initiative taken by premier Imran Khan.

NASA’s images are endorsed by the United Nations, Bonn Convention, and the World Economic Forum. The arable land in Pakistan has grown rapidly in the last four to five years.

Last month, PM Khan had started ‘Plant4Pakistan’ drive in the side-lines of the Ten Billion Tree Tsunami Project. The subsidiary campaign is in support of the massive plantation drive that aims to reclaim the encroached land to be converted into the forests and wildlife parks.

He posted the poster of the drive on his Twitter account that read, “Earlier, forests would be captured (by the land mafia). Now the land will be reclaimed and used to grow forests again.”
