“The views of the Army Chief about the constitution and the authority of the people’s representatives are correct and welcome. In his earlier speech, he also emphasized the need for discussion and consensus on major issues. The election should be supported and public decisions should be respected,” Fawad Chaudhry said.

During an in-camera briefing on the national security situation in the National Assembly Hall on Friday, COAS Asim Munir called upon everyone to give up the debate of “Naya” and “Purana” and instead talk about “our Pakistan”.

People exercise their right to express opinions through the Constitution and parliament, he said, adding that “sovereignty belongs to Almighty Allah and the Constitution has been empowered by the command of Allah Almighty”.

Gen Asim Munir also said it was for the elected representatives of the people to determine the destination and that the Pakistan Army would fully support them in the journey of development and progress of Pakistan.
