FM leaves to attend Munich Global Security Conference

Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi has left on the official tour to Germany to represent Pakistan at Munich Security Conference. The Munich conference is held annually to deliberate on global security issues. Foreign ministers, defense ministers and security experts from several countries participate in this conference.

A coherent strategy is hammered out on global security situation for future therein. Before embarking on the trip, Mr. Qureshi talked to reporters and told that the Afghan President would also be attending the conference.

Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi has left on the official tour to Germany to represent Pakistan at Munich Security Conference.

“Afghan president will present Afghan stance in a panel discussion and I will present Pakistan’s stance on Afghanistan before all,” he said adding, “A large delegation of US Congress comprising 9 senators and 10 members of House of Representatives is also coming there. I am likely to meet them. “

He held Pakistan-US ties have entered a significant phase. “It was my endeavor from the very first day that relations should be reset and headway is being made on this count. Their recent statements are very positive. Pakistan role is being lauded rather and there is no finger pointing towards it. The entire world is appreciating the efforts being employed by Pakistan for peace in Afghanistan,” said Mr. Qureshi.

Qureshi will also meet foreign ministers of Russia, Germany, Canada, and Uzbekistan. “I will also try meeting Mogherini who represents the European Union on foreign affairs so that strategic enhancement plan between Pakistan and EU could be given final shape.”
