Earlier, Speaker of National Assembly Raja Pervez Ashraf had received flak on social media after a video of him enjoying the Niagara Falls in Canada went viral a few days ago.
Pervez Ashraf was seen wearing a coat at the Niagara Fall in the video. Other people were also seen along with him in the video at Niagara Falls-a tourist spot in Canada. Ashraf had traveled to Canada to attend 65th Commonwealth Parliamentary Conference.
It was rumored that Raja Pervez Ashraf has traveled to Canada with 25 members, most of them staying in five-star hotels with families. The spokesperson of the National Assembly of Pakistan debunked the news calling it ‘malicious’ and ‘anti-state propaganda.
“Spokesman of National Assembly has termed news circulating in social media as baseless, malicious & anti-state; where it has been falsely attributed to Speaker National Assembly that he is attending ongoing Commonwealth Parliamentary Conference in Canada, with 25 member Delegation,” read a statement from National Assembly on Twitter. Minister for Climate Change Sherry Rehman was criticized for uploading her videos on TikTok.
