How many seats will PTI win in Punjab by-polls?

Currently, all eyes are on Punjab by-polls to be held on July 17. However, PTI leader Dr. Shahbaz Gill claims that the match has already been fixed.

Former SAPM and PTI leader Dr. Shahbaz Gill revealed the number of seats PTI will win in the upcoming Punjab by-polls. He made the revelations during an interview for a private media channel.

While lambasting the PML-N government for burdening the public with inflation, Dr. Shahbaz Gill said the only solution is free and fair elections, unlike the Punjab by-polls. The PTI leader then revealed that the Punjab by-polls have already been fixed.

“We are going into elections but we know that match has been fixed against us,” Dr. Shahbaz Gill said. He then said the arrangements have already been made and PTI will win six seats while PML-N will get the remaining 14.

Furthermore, he said PTI will win six seats so that it can be portrayed the polls were free and fair. He also said that in 2018, the same thing happened with Imran Khan. In 2018, with Independents joining the party, PTI came up just short of an absolute majority. PTI and PML-Q formed a coalition government in the Punjab assembly.

“We know what’s happening. We are well aware,” Dr. Shehbaz Gill said.

Punjab by-polls

Currently, all eyes are on Punjab by-polls to be held on July 17. The polls are scheduled on 20 seats of the Punjab Assembly where PTI had won in the 2018 general elections and its MPAs had later defected to the PML-N and faced disqualification.

The PTI and its ally party PML-Q have declared PML-N’s Hamza Shehbaz an “illegal Chief Minister of Punjab” after losing the majority in the House thus calling for a run-off election.

Earlier, PTI announced its candidates. The party has allocated 18 seats and the candidates for the remaining two seats will be announced later.

On the other hand, Hamza Shehbaz had sought PPP’s support in the coming bye-polls. Asif Zardari reportedly obliged Hamza by agreeing to forgo his party’s right on these seats. He gave his word that the PPP will neither seek any seat adjustment with the PML-N nor field its candidates against these seats. He also pledged to support the PML-N candidates in all the constituencies.
