A video of Pakistani batter Muhammad Rizwan delivering a religious lecture in the mosque in Christchurch, New Zealand has gone viral on social media.

In his lecture, he stressed fulfilling religious obligations. He talked about the importance of spirituality in life and the need to understand God. The cricketer talked about having a firm belief in God. Rizwan received mixed responses on social media; many of the users appreciated Rizwan for his religious inclination others called it a PR gimmick by the player. Others criticized him for his performances and style of game.

Nevertheless, Rizwan is the leading T20I batsman in the ICC ranking. He is scoring consistently for the team and makes a powerful opening duo with skipper Babar Azam.

Muhammad Rizwan is known for his religious inclination in the team. Earlier, he received praise after fans spotted him reading Holy Quran in a video during the tour to The Netherlands. The video titled ‘Amsterdam to Dubai’ shows highlights of the journey of the Pakistan Cricket Team from the Netherlands to UAE. The video features team players interacting with each other and engaging with fans before heading to the airport.

Rizwan read the Holy Quran while sitting alone on the bus. Netizens commended the cricketer. Fans asserted that while other players were busy on their mobile phones, Rizwan spent his time reading Holy Quran.

Earlier, he had gifted an English translation of the Holy Quran to the temporary coach, Matthew Hayden. Hayden revealed in his interview that he was curious about Islam and Rizwan gifted him the Holy Quran in English translation. “It was Rizzy (Mohammad Rizwan), and I have to say it was a beautiful moment I will never forget,” said Hayden.
