Mysterious death of Lahore DIG Shariq Jamal raises concerns

No family members were present at his residence at the time of his death.

Lahore’s Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Shariq Jamal was found dead at his residence in the DHA area. The circumstances surrounding his untimely demise have raised concerns, leading the authorities to launch a thorough investigation into the incident.

According to the details, the body of DIG Shariq Jamal Khan was found in a private flat 104/A and was shifted to National Hospital. However, it was later moved to Jinnah Hospital for post-mortem examination.

No family members were present at his residence at the time of his death. It was revealed that he had sent his two house servants out before his death. Upon their return, the servants found him dead in his bedroom and quickly alerted the police.

The discovery of his lifeless body prompted an immediate response from the police. As soon as the news of Shariq Jamal’s death surfaced, the police officers and Shariq Jamal’s wife reached the hospital.

A case regarding the incident has been registered on the complaint of deceased DIG’s wife. Police claims to arrest a man and a woman for investigation in this regard.

The police also conducted a preliminary investigation and then transferred the body to the hospital for confirmation of the cause of death. Medical professionals at the hospital confirmed that the DIG had passed away much earlier than his arrival at the medical facility.

The DIG was currently serving as Officer on Special Duty (OSD). He has also served as DIG traffic and DIG railways. The deceased recently returned home after passing a departmental course for promotion in Grade-21.

Last year, the sudden passing away of Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) former director Mohammad Rizwan also raised alarm in Pakistan. Mohammad Rizwan who probed the money laundering charges against Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Chief Minister Hamza Shehbaz died of a heart attack.
